Things I Like

Here are the current products that I use and recommend:

  • Basecamp. Basecamp is a product made by 37signals, and is an excellent web-based app for project management. It allows for collaboration, milestone and task management, as well as messaging between my customers and myself during the development process. I highly recommend it.
  • Backpack. Backpack is another 37Signals product. I use it for managing my company’s internal info, including ideas and record-keeping. Good stuff.
  • Harvest. Harvest is a web-based time-tracking application by the company of the same name. I use it to create estimates and invoices, as well as time-keeping for cost reporting. It is cheap, and just simply works.
  • Dropbox. Dropbox is another web app that provides cloud-based file storage. I was using the free account, but have upgraded to the 50GB version. We worth the cost. All of my data is automatically backed up, and is available from any web browser or mobile device. Beauty.
  • WordPress. I have to mention WordPress here, too. Free and just great. You can customize it to your heart’s content, and find free plugins to do just about anything. Did I mention it was free?
  • Google Apps. Google Apps is a product offered by Google that allows you to have web-based email, file and calendar management. Google is constantly making it more useful, and it integrates in with mobile devices wonderfully. Best yet, it can be free or for a fee, depending on your size needs.
  • IPOWER. My web hosting company of choice is IPOWER. They provide great support, and are very reasonable. I get my domains through them as well.

No, I don’t get paid any money by these folks to basically advertise for them. I just have started using their products to develop websites and like what they do. If you want more feedback on them, just drop me a note.
